Bandwagon series features Ohlman, Montez

PUTNEY-The Bandwagon Summer Series presents an unforgettable evening with Christine Ohlman & Rebel Montez on Saturday, June 21, at the Putney Inn Field.

Known as "The Beehive Queen" for her signature platinum-blonde bouffant and electrifying stage presence, Ohlman brings her powerhouse vocals and legendary band to southern Vermont for a night of Americana soul and rock 'n' roll under the summer sky.

Ohlman, the vocalist for NBC's Saturday Night Live Band, most recently appeared on the SNL 50th Anniversary telecast in 2025. Her critically acclaimed band, Christine Ohlman & Rebel Montez, features guitarist Chris Bickley (Johnny Winter), bassist Michael Colbath, and Boston drumming ace Lorne Entress (Mary Chapin Carpenter, Lori McKenna). Together, they deliver a firebrand blend of roots rock, R&B, and vintage soul dubbed "Contemporary Rock R&B."

Organizers say she has performed alongside music legends including Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, Al Green, Keb' Mo', and Trombone Shorty, and appears on the 2024 chart-topping duet "Girl Friends" with Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Dion DiMucci.

Her sixth studio album, The Deep End, was hailed as one of the best of the year, and her 2024 release, The Grown-Up Thing, continues to earn acclaim, said organizers.

From The Tonight Show to Carnegie Hall, from the Muscle Shoals WC Handy Festival to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage benefit, Ohlman's voice and vision "have become a living chronicle of American roots music," said organizers in a news release.

Gates open at 5 p.m.; showtime is at 6 p.m. Tickets are $22 in advance at nextstagearts.org and $25 at the gate. Kids under 12 are admitted free. Food from 802 Soul Kitchen will be available onsite, and guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair.
