BRATTLEBORO-The first installment of the 2025 Brattleboro Real Estate and Personal Property Taxes are due by 5 p.m. on Friday Aug. 15. Payments made after Aug. 15 will have an additional 1% interest added to the unpaid balance.
The town of Brattleboro utility bills are also due by 5 p.m. on Aug. 15. Payments made after Aug. 15 will have an additional 1% interest, as well as an 8% penalty, added to the unpaid balance.
Payments can be mailed to the Town of Brattleboro, 230 Main St., Suite 111, Brattleboro, VT 05301. Payments mailed with an official postmark of Aug. 15 will be considered on time.
Payments can also be made by dropping an envelope containing your check (no cash) into the locked drop box in the parking lot behind the Municipal Center. Payments deposited in the drop box after hours on the due date will not be considered on time. Include the quarterly payment stub to ensure the payment is applied properly.
When paying by check:
• Note that the Town cannot accept post-dated checks.
• If you are paying for both taxes and utilities, write separate checks for each bill instead of one combined check.
• Review checks for accuracy.
• Be sure the check is signed, is written for the correct amount, and includes the parcel I.D. in the memo line.
Electronic bank checks must be received in the office by the due date. Electronic bank checks dated for the due date but received after the due date will not be considered an on-time payment. Please check with your bank regarding the payment schedule.
Payments may be made via credit card or debit card by visiting brattleboro.gov/pay-bills-online. There is a fee for this service. The town can also accept credit card payments at the office over the counter; fees do apply.
To pay in person, the Treasurer's Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Room 111 of the Municipal Building.
