BRATTLEBORO-The Brattleboro Museum & Art Center's popular annual "Lego Contest & Exhibit" will return to the museum for the 18th year in a row, opening with an awards ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 5:30 p.m. (doors open at 5). The exhibit will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday through Monday, Oct. 13, Indigenous Peoples Day.
Prizes will be awarded in six age groups, and one structure will be honored as Best in Show. Special awards will be given out by sponsors: Brattleboro Subaru will award Best Vehicle; Foard Panel, Best Home or Building; and G.S. Precision, Best Use of Moving Parts.
Winners of these special awards will each receive a $100 gift card to the Lego Store.
Hundreds of creations by Lego builders of all ages will fill the museum's galleries.
"Every year, this event brings people together in the spirit of play, imagination, and creativity," said BMAC Director Danny Lichtenfeld in a news release. "It's always a joy to see families, friends, and neighbors gather at the museum to check out the new crop of inventive creations."
Interested participants must deliver their entries to BMAC on Monday, Oct. 6, between 4 and 6 p.m. An online entry form must be submitted before drop-off, including a $5 entry fee. Fee waivers are available upon request. Guidelines and entry forms are available at brattleboromuseum.org.
Admission is optional. Visitors are welcome to pay whatever they wish or nothing at all.
