BRATTLEBORO-Vermont Adult Learning (VAL) recently welcomed community members, local businesses, and prospective students to an open house at its new Windham County Learning Center at 113 Technology Drive.
The event showcased what VAL calls "the transformative impact of adult education." It also celebrated a $20,000 grant from Comcast supporting the Center's new Digital Learning Lab, which expands digital literacy and technology access. The grant is being used to fund essential technology programs, upgrade 11 computers, and enable the purchase of 30 new Chromebooks.
During the open house, guests toured the facility and experienced the wide range of resources available to adult learners in Windham County, including the center's new Digital Learning Lab.
The lab provides enhanced Internet connectivity and digital skills training, with a focus on computer literacy, workforce readiness, and career development. "These resources are especially valuable for those working toward a high school diploma, GED, or English language proficiency, and those preparing for college and careers," wrote event coordinators in a news release.
"We are incredibly grateful to Comcast for supporting our mission, and proud of our students and the dedication of our teaching staff," said Matthew Bentley, VAL's regional director for Windham County. "This open house was a way to celebrate their hard work and show our community what's possible when we invest in adult education."
