BRATTLEBORO-In celebration of National Coming Out Day (Oct. 11) and World Kindness Day (Nov. 13), Windham County Prevention Partnership invites community members to gather for an evening of storytelling, reflection, and connection at the Latchis Theatre Thursday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m.
A story slam is a community event where individuals have up to five minutes to share a true, personal story on a theme. No notes, no scripts - just a story from the heart.
"This is not a competition, it is a chance to tell your story and bring compassion, hope, joy, laughter, tears, and understanding," organizers wrote in a news release. "The atmosphere is warm, supportive, and deeply human. Each storyteller's voice contributes to a shared tapestry of empathy, resilience, and hope."
This event celebrates the power of authentic stories - those that illuminate moments of kindness, courage, and coming out in all the beautiful forms those experiences can take.
"Everyone is welcome to attend, listen, or take the stage. Whether your story reflects a moment of kindness, a journey of self-discovery, or a reflection on connection," wrote organizers, "Your voice matters."
This is a free, family-friendly, inclusive, all ages, smoke/vape-free event. All are welcome to share or simply listen. The Latchis concession stand will be open for refreshments during this event.
This event is sponsored by Windham County Prevention Partnership and its three coalitions: West River Valley Thrives, Building a Positive Community, and Deerfield Valley Community Partnership.
