WSESD begins FY27 budget process

BRATTLEBORO-Work to develop the fiscal year 2027 budget is starting in the Windham Southeast School District, and the school board's Communication Council wants the community to be engaged in the process.

Ultimately, the school board will recommend a budget to be presented for a vote at the WSESD Annual Meeting on March 17, 2026.

Among ways for community members to participate is attending Finance Committee meetings, which will be held Nov. 24 and Dec. 1.

WSESD board meetings are always open to the public. The budget is expected to be discussed there Nov. 18, Dec. 9, Dec. 16, and Jan. 13 with a final meeting Jan. 27.

Also recommended is that community members "engage with school administrators and Leadership Councils."

You can find out more about each board and committee meeting by visiting wsesu.org/wsesd-agendas and wsesu.org/committee-agendas.

At press time, only elementary school budgets were available to review.

In sum, the proposed elementary budget includes a 3.2% ($1,303,705) increase for a bottom line of $42,214,837.65 for FY27.
