BRATTLEBORO-Artist Jonathan Ryan Storm will lead a walking tour and discussion of his outdoor exhibition, "Time Was a River, Too," at the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center (BMAC) on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 3 p.m.
The event begins outside the museum, where participants will view the large reproductions of Storm's artwork installed in the museum's window bays, followed by a discussion indoors.
Storm's paintings and textiles feature compositions that, in his words, "don't tell a story, nor are they static-they have a life of their own." Storm said he works intuitively, following his hand through the flow state of painting or the mesmerizing motion of sewing. He added, "I want the work to move-visually, physically, emotionally. It should have its own rhythm." He seeks to create images that he finds compelling and soothing and hopes that viewers experience them in similar fashion.
As a person on the autism spectrum, Storm has a self-described "obsession" with rhythm, repetition, and automatic movements.
"Time Was a River, Too" is on view outside the museum through April 26, 2026.
Admission is free. Walk-ins are welcome, and advance registration is not necessary. Learn more at brattleboromuseum.org or by calling 802-257-0124, ext. 101.
