BRATTLEBORO-Brattleboro’s Last Night Committee presents a fun-filled and substance-free day of celebration for all ages on New Year’s Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 31.
• The day will kick off with snowshoeing and cross-country skiing at the Brattleboro Outing Club (BOC) trails from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Trail access will be free, and equipment rentals will be available at the Hut between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. This event is weather dependent and will be canceled if there is little or no snow.
• Seniors will celebrate the end of 2025 with a pizza party with music with the Rob Fletcher Trio at the Brattleboro Senior Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• From 1 to 4 p.m., families can enjoy horse drawn sleigh/hay rides at Wild Carrot Farm on Upper Dummerston Road. (“No dogs, please,” organizers write.) Adult tickets are $12, $6 for children up to age 12, and free for children 2 years and under. Each sleigh/hay ride will last approximately 30 minutes.
• The New England Center for Circus Arts (NECCA) hosts an interactive performance and circus activity from 4 to 5 p.m., featuring student aerialists and acrobats, followed by an opportunity to explore circus arts at the Trapezium, 10 Town Crier Drive. Admission is free, but attendees are asked to bring a nonperishable food to donate to Project Feed the Thousands.
• Brattleboro Bowl (865 Putney Rd.) will host an afternoon and evening of bowling. Children’s bowling runs from 2 to 4 p.m. The All-Ages Bowling starts at 5 p.m. Call 802-257-1177 for pricing and reservations. (Payment will be required at booking.)
• Returning this year will be a Glow Disc Golf Tournament, with doubles starting at 5:30 p.m. at Living Memorial Park (61 Guilford St.). There will be disc prizes and cash payouts. Registration is $20 day of event at bit.ly/LastNightGlowDiscs. Please be sure to park at the upper softball field at Living Memorial Park for this event.
• There will be free ice skating at Living Memorial Park from 6 to 9 p.m.; skate rentals are available for $3. There will be door prizes and hot chocolate available for attendees.
• Bring your downhill skis and snowboards up to the Brattleboro Ski Hill at Living Memorial Park from 6 to 9 p.m. to enjoy the snow and cool winter air for $5 per person for a lift ticket.
• Last Night Brattleboro returns with the well-received and fun Family Contra Dance from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. featuring Andy Davis as caller and on accordion, Laurie Indenbaum on fiddle, and Mary Cay Brass on piano.
The event at the Heart Rose Club (former Shriners Hall, 11 Green St.) in downtown Brattleboro is free. Donations to Last Night Brattleboro are appreciated. (“Remember your indoor sneakers,” organizers say.)
Once again, everyone will celebrate the end of 2025 by having an early ball drop and count down at the end of the Family Contra Dance at Heart Rose Club starting at 8 p.m.
“As a reminder, Last Night Brattleboro is not a town-run event but is made up of volunteer committee members who raise money to support all of the activities that happen for our community,” the committee members posted on Facebook on Dec. 28. “Thank you to all of our sponsors and volunteers who make this happen each year!”
The volunteer members of the “small but mighty commitee” responsible for Last Night Brattleboro include Carol Lolatte, Rob Szpila, Betsy Gentile, Erin Wessel, Sarah Clark, and Jessica Bennett.
