Village Trustees seek appointee to fill remainder of MacNeil's term

BELLOWS FALLS-The Village Trustees opened the board’s Jan. 13 meeting with a moment of silence to honor the memory of Trustee Susan MacNeil, who died suddenly on Jan. 10 [story, A1].

With no comments or objections from remaining board members or members of the public, the board will follow the same process previously used to fill the term of former Trustee Conor Floyd.

“We have not started a budget process in the village, and I think it would be advisable to fill the position, especially with the budget coming,” said Trustees President Paul Obuchowski.

Those interested in filling the remainder of MacNeil’s term — approximately five months — should submit a letter of interest to the board no later than Friday, Feb. 6.

Letters can be mailed to the Municipal Manager’s office at P.O. Box 370, Bellows Falls, VT 05101 or emailed to Interim Municipal Manager Alex Torpey.

At the meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 10, candidates should be prepared to “come in for maybe a three-minute presentation about why they should be placed on the Board of Trustees,” Obuchowski said.

The board plans to make their decision that evening.
