Fay: a vote for grace and mercy to those less fortunate

COLCHESTER-As (until recently) a lifelong Brattleboro resident, I have seen many Selectboard decisions — both good and bad — that affect the town. I do not envy the board members, as they often have to make difficult choices. I do, however, appreciate the effort, time, and hard work that they all put in.

With the removal of the paltry less-than-1% funding for social services for FY27, it seems that we need someone on the board that sees the significance of continuing this appropriation.

Ken Fay has been through many ups and downs in his life, including being a recipient of social services from time to time. He therefore can relate firsthand to the need for these services. And he is able to see the impending consequences if the services are not adequately funded.

He dedicates much of his time volunteering to help those less fortunate or down on their luck. On the board, he would be a vital, strong voice to encourage support for those that are need of such advocacy.

At some point, most everyone has complications in their life that can be an impediment to success. And at those times, a convincing expression of support can be a life saver.

I believe that Ken Fay can fill that role of being an ardent proponent of extending a helping hand to the downtrodden and is enthusiastic to do so. A vote for him is vote for grace and mercy to those less fortunate.
