BMC Chamber Series features Hristova and Polonsky March 13

BRATTLEBORO-The Brattleboro Music Center (BMC) Chamber Series will feature violinist Bella Hristova and pianist Anna Polonsky Friday, March 13, at 7 p.m.

The performance at the BMC will include the Vermont premiere of a new piece by Pulitzer Prize–winning composer Ellen Taafe Zwilich, co-commissioned by the BMC, entitled “Carousel.”

The program also includes Bach’s Sonata for violin and keyboard in C minor, BWV1017, and Sonata for violin and keyboard in F minor, BWV 1018; and Grieg’s Sonata No. 2 in G major.

Bulgarian American Hristova has won international acclaim for her “expressive nuance and rich tone” (The New York Times) and “impressive power and control” (The Washington Post). Organizers said in a news release that she has distinguished herself on the world stage as a performing artist with a “remarkably diverse repertoire and a bold approach to programming.”

A recipient of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, Hristova has won numerous awards, including First Prize in the Michael Hill International Violin Competition. She is a sixth-place Laureate of the 2006 International Violin Competition of Indianapolis.

Polonsky has collaborated with the Guarneri, Orion, Juilliard, and Shanghai Quartets, and with musicians such as Mitsuko Uchida, Yo-Yo Ma, Richard Goode, and Emanuel Ax. She has performed in Amsterdam’s Royal Concertgebouw, the Vienna Konzerthaus, Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, and Carnegie Hall’s Stern, Zankel, and Weill Recital Halls, and has toured extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia.

Tickets are $30 general admission and are available on the Brattleboro Music Center website—bmcvt.org—by calling 802-257-4523, or emailing info@bmcvt.org.
