Price remains on WSESD board; Smith takes a seat

BRATTLEBORO-Current Windham Southeast School District (WSESD) Board co-Chair Kimberly Price was re-elected to represent Brattleboro for a three-year term after besting Richard “Rich” Leavy in the March 3 district election, 1,285 to 1,059.

In the contest for a one-year seat representing Dummerston on the board, Paul Smith took the seat, beating Daniel Everlith, 1,230 to 758.

“I want to thank everyone that voted for me,” said Price, a former Windham Southeast Supervisory Union middle school science teacher and the district’s curriculum coordinator.

“I appreciate being able to continue working on the WSESD board,” he continued. “I look forward to resume my work on the Finance Committee.”

He thanked Leavy for the competition.

“He has done some great work with the Independent Budget Review Committee, and he would have done an excellent job on the board,” Price said.

Leavy did not reply to the offer to comment on the race.

“I am really gratified by the support people have shown,” Smith said. “I am looking forward to working with the really great board we already have.”

“I am glad to have participated in this campaign and congratulations to Paul,” said Everlith, who had made his first bid for a seat on the board. “I hope he does what’s best for the schools and our community overall. I will continue to be involved in making the community a better place for all.”

Running unopposed, incumbent Putney board member Ruby McAdoo retained her seat for another three years with 1,944 votes.
