NEWFANE-The Historical Society of Windham County invites you to a special preview of the Michelman Gallery exhibit at the County History Museum in Newfane Sunday, May 17, from 2 to 4 p.m.
The 2026 exhibit includes many newly shown paintings by Windham County artists, including Townshend landscapes by Lucy Booth on loan from the collection of Robert & Kathy DuGrenier, and a portrait painted by Booth loaned by Richard Michelman.
On display for the first time will be a series of the original Arlo Monroe designs for his colorful “Leland and Gray Circus” posters loaned by his son, Allen Monroe.
The County History Museum is located in the former Windham County Jail building, 11 Jail Street. Both the County History Museum and the West River Railroad Museum on Cemetery Hill Road officially open for the 2026 season on Saturday, May 23. They will remain open weekends from noon to 5 p.m. (History Museum) and noon to 4 p.m. (Railroad Museum) through mid-October. Admission is free.
