Geranium Festival benefits Community Center & Library

WEST DUMMERSTON-Lydia’s Friends, the friends-of-the-library organization that supports the Dummerston Community Center & Library, hosts the annual “Geranium Festival, Silent Auction, and Book Sale” Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine.

Geraniums for the event are donated by Dummerston’s Walker Farm. This year’s silent auction is online, and bidding continues through May 16 at 2 p.m. To bid, click on bit.ly/865-geranium. Auction items will be displayed at the library on May 16 and folks may also bid in person at the library.

Area individuals and businesses have donated art, crafts, and gift certificates to the silent auction, and “our book sale promises a treasure or two,” wrote organizers in a news release. “This year, there is a plethora of children’s books and mysteries.”

A children’s program will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., and morris dancers will start performing at 11 a.m.

“We are especially delighted that the morris dancers include West Dummerston on their May dancing circuit,” said Catherine O’Callaghan, chair of Lydia’s Friends, in a news release. “Be sure to experience the maypole tradition.”

According to Dummerston resident Beth Shulman, a volunteer with Lydia’s Friends, “The funds we raise through the generous donations of businesses, artists, and not to mention the gorgeous Walker Farm geraniums, support Dummerston’s community gathering place and keeps our local library vibrant and serving all generations.”

The Dummerston Community Center & Library is located at 150 West St., in the heart of West Dummerston village. For more information, contact the library at 802-258-9878 or dummerstonvtlibrary@gmail.com or O’Callaghan at 802-380-7935 or catherineocallaghan32@gmail.com.
