Queralt Giralt Soler Trio brings lyrical, genre-blurring music to Next Stage Arts

PUTNEY-Cellist, vocalist, and composer Queralt Giralt Soler presents her trio at Next Stage Arts on Friday, May 15, for an evening of intimate, genre-blending music that bridges classical training, jazz improvisation, and Catalan folk traditions.

The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 6:45 p.m. at Next Stage Arts, 15 Kimball Hill.

Based between the U.S. and Catalunya, Giralt Soler has cultivated a musical voice that fuses cello and vocals. Her work draws equally from contemporary composition, Mediterranean roots, and jazz, “resulting in music that feels both adventurous and deeply personal,” said organizers in a news release.

An internationally active artist, Giralt Soler has performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Detroit Jazz Festival and has collaborated with musicians including Kenny Barron, Joe Lovano, and Latin Grammy–winning group Las Migas.

She is joined by Mahya Hamedi on piano, percussion, and vocals and Bahar Badiei on oud and vocals. Together, the trio will present Giralt Soler’s original compositions alongside interpretations of works by composers such as Hermeto Pascoal and Paco de Lucía.

Tickets are available at nextstagearts.org for $22 in advance, $25 at the door, or $10 for livestream access. This performance is funded in part by the New England States Touring program of the New England Foundation for the Arts, made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and the six New England state arts agencies.
