BRATTLEBORO-The Friends of Brooks Memorial Library will host a Garden Party fundraiser Sunday, July 12, from 2 to 5 p.m. There is no rain date.
Organizers said in a news release that the event will include a chance to chat leisurely with friends, or the opportunity to offer an elder in one’s life an easy outing in nature. Book clubs might find it a special place to chat about their latest read, and gardening fanatics will enjoy a visit to a special garden. “Let the summer breeze and the beauty of nature carry away your cares while you relax, rejuvenate, and support the library,” wrote organizers.
This special garden is in West Brattleboro, about 10 minutes from the library, at 744 Meadowbrook Rd.
Refreshing drinks will be available to sip while leisurely strolling around the flower beds and along the pond. Finger sandwiches and delicious munchies, savory and sweet, will also be available at a table by the pond on the spacious, shade-filled lawn.
Tickets are $15 each, (check or cash only), and may be purchased in advance at the library, or at the garden party on July 12.
There will be a drawing for the winner of the two framed prints by children’s author Melissa Sweet. The prints are on display at the library and can also be viewed on the library website, brookslibraryvt.org. Tickets for the drawing are also available at the library, as well as at the garden party. Tickets are $10 each, or 3 for $25. (Check or cash only.)
The Friends of Brooks Memorial Library helps support valuable services, special programs, and equipment beyond the library’s regular operating budget, such as the museum pass program, events for all ages, summer reading, digital resources, the Library of Things, and more.
