Bywater Call brings Southern soul and roots rock to Bandwagon series

PUTNEY-Next Stage Arts presents Bywater Call, the seven-piece Southern soul and roots rock band from Toronto, Friday, Aug. 14 at 6 p.m. at Putney Inn Field, 57 Putney Landing Rd. Gates open at 5 p.m.

Bywater Call is fronted by vocalist Meghan Parnell. The band combines guitar, keyboards, horns, and a rhythm section.

Drawing on influences from classic soul, R&B, roots rock, blues, and Americana, Bywater Call has earned a devoted international following. The band has received U.K. Blues Award nominations for International Blues Artist of the Year and praise from critics and fellow musicians alike.

Blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa called Bywater Call “one of my favorite bands,” according to organizers, adding, “Meghan Parnell does a hell of a job. Put them in your playlist. Embrace it. Get the name out there.”

Tickets are $24 in advance, $28 at the gate, and free for children under 12. Refreshments, including a bar and food from Mama T’s Sweet Spot, will be available for purchase. Advance tickets and additional information are available at nextstagearts.org.
