WEST CHESTERFIELD, N.H.-Actors Theatre Playhouse (ATP), will present Untethered, a play by Carol Mark, with performances Fridays and Saturdays, Sept. 11, 12, 18, and 19, at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Sept. 13, at 2 p.m., at Brook and Main streets.
The show will be a fully staged, script-in-hand production of the play, a drama about a young woman who, after returning home to a horse ranch in Montana, struggles to reconnect with her estranged father.
Mark wrote Untethered to capture her experience of watching wild horses amble in open pastures against the big Montana sky, she said in an ATP news release. “I also wanted to address what the word ‘home’ can mean to each of us and that sometimes, when things get tough, it’s honesty and compassion that help bring us back home again.”
Untethered was previously read before an audience in Februrary 2025 at Brooks Memorial Library in Brattleboro. Roberta Barnes returns as the daughter, Samantha, for this production; Arthur Pettee joins as Will, the father; and Andrew Bosworth appears as Jack, the ranch hand.
ATP has produced three of Mark’s other plays: Speed Date, Ode to Clouds, and Never Too Many. Theaters and festivals throughout the region have also staged her works, according to the news release.
