WARDSBORO-Wardsboro community members will gather Thursday, Sept. 17, for a free community dinner and several brainstorming sessions concerning the future of the town. The event begins at 4:30 p.m. at Wardsboro Town Hall, 99 Main St., and at Wardsboro Methodist Church, 122 Main St.
The Vermont Council on Rural Development, a nonpartisan nonprofit, will facilitate four separate community forums at the two locations. Childcare will be provided at the library during the forums, and dinner will be served at 6 p.m., between brainstorming forums.
There are four forum topics: schools and childcare; businesses and jobs; community and recreation; and housing and affordability. People who are unable to attend in person can join a virtual forum at 7 p.m. that will cover all the topics.
The event kicks off a three-month process the Selectboard is calling Wardsboro Turns Up. The second meeting is slated for Thursday, Oct. 15, and will focus on actions and priorities. A final gathering on Thursday, Nov. 5, will help the community build action plans and form task groups for implementation.
