GRAFTON-The Nature Museum at Grafton will host its annual Fairy House Festival Saturday, Sept. 26, and Sunday, Sept. 27, at 186 Townshend Rd.
At the center of the festival are miniature houses built out of bark, stone, and moss by local classrooms, families, and organizations. In addition to admiring the tiny dwellings along a woodland path, participants can make crafts, like their own fairy house or magic wand. The museum has added a new scavenger hunt this year called Nature Quest. Would-be questers can attend a knighting ceremony at 1 or 3 p.m. either day, according to organizers.
Performers will include The Longshanks, a duo of stilt-walking storytellers, and musician Dan Frank, who plays hurdy-gurdy.
This year’s festival coincides with the public opening of expanded outdoor educational spaces on the grounds of the museum, according to a news release, with new gardens that feature native plantings. These gardens are like “a series of outdoor ‘rooms’ designed for gathering, reflection, and connection with the natural world,” the release said.
Tickets are available at nature-museum.org. They are $5 for kids and $18 in advance for adults ($20 at the gate). Kids under 3 are free.
