PUTNEY-Bluegrass quintet Liam Purcell & Cane Mill Road and folk singer/songwriter Diane Zeigler will perform Sunday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. Next Stage Arts, 15 Kimball Hill Rd. South.
Based in Nashville, Liam Purcell & Cane Mill Road “twine innovation, tradition, and excellence into a unique musical experience,” according to a news release. Lead musician Purcell, 23, grew up playing old-time and bluegrass music in North Carolina and later earned a degree in string performance at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Fellow band members are Zack Vickers on banjo, Devin Jones on guitar and mandolin, Ari Silver on guitar, and Teddy Kent on upright bass.
Based in Vermont, Zeigler “combines a crystalline vocal style with distinctive open-tuning guitar work,” organizers said. Zeigler began her music career in Boston in the ’90s but took a break between the birth of her youngest child in 2006 and that child’s departure for college earlier this year.
Tickets are $22 in advance at nextstagearts.org, $26 at the door, or $10 to livestream. For information, call 802-387-0102.
