Poets to explore memory, disaster, and absence at Tuesday night reading

PUTNEY-Poets Tim Mayo and Toni Ornter will read from their new publications Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 6:30 p.m. at the Putney Public Library, 55 Main St.

Mayo will read from Muscle Memories of Love and Disaster, published in February by Bainbridge Island Press. The book “explores grief and the loss of loved ones,” according to a news release. Mayo was a founding committee member of the Brattleboro Literary Festival and a recipient of fellowships from the Vermont Studio Center.

Ortner will read from Letters to the Dead, released in August by Rockwood Press. “She invites readers to consider what remains when names and forms disappear, and how love continues beyond absence,” the news release. Ortner hosts the virtual Putney Library Writers Salon to introduce presses to readers in Vermont.
