GRAFTON — The Grafton Fire Department’s annual tag sale will take place Saturday, Oct. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., under the tents near the firehouse at 711 Route 121, just east of Grafton Village.
Items this year, which will be the tag sale’s 45th, will include furniture, housewares, tools, toys, linens, small appliances, books, and recordings, according to a news release.
Fire engines will be on display, and volunteer firefighters will be there to meet the public as well.
“Locals and visitors alike line up early, waiting for the fire engine air horn to signal the opening of the sale,” the news release said.
The event takes place rain or shine, and many items will be marked down to half price on Sunday.
Foliage 5K at Winston Prouty Center
BRATTLEBORO — The Winston Prouty Center for Child and Family Development will hold its Foliage 5K Saturday, Oct. 10, on its campus at 209 Austine Drive. The Little Leaf Dash for young children begins at 10 a.m., and the 5K Trail Run kicks off at 10:15.
Runners should expect a moderately challenging route with 510 feet of elevation change, organizers said in a news release, adding that the path has changed since last year’s Foliage 5K. It includes “forested trails and some sections on a grassy hilltop, with spacious views,” according to the release.
In contrast, the half-mile Little Leaf Dash goes over pavement and a grassy field, with only a slight elevation change, to accommodate young children running on their own or being pushed in strollers.
Prizes will be awarded by age group, and there will also be “spirit” awards for the oldest, youngest, and best-dressed runners, organizers said.
The event will include other activities as well, such as pumpkin carving and cider pressing. Runners can register at winstonprouty.org/foliage5k for $27.50, or in person on race day for $32.50.
