PUTNEY-Two area zydeco bands will perform at the annual Vermont Zydeco Party at Next Stage Arts, 15 Kimball Hill, Saturday, Oct. 10, from 3 to 8:30 p.m.
The event will kick off with a dance lesson for beginners and will include a more advanced lesson later in the day.
ZydeGroove will take the stage first, bringing a "country zydeco sound," organizers said in a news release. In addition to the core zydeco instruments - accordion and rubboard - the six-piece band incorporates fiddle, bass, guitar, and drums.
Planet Zydeco will perform second, bringing "traditional, accordion-driven zydeco inspired by the music of Louisiana's rural dance halls," the news release said. In addition to up-tempo music, their repertoire includes blues and traditional waltzes.
The event will include a potluck dinner and a cash bar.
Admission is $30. For more information, contact vtzydeco@gmail.com or visit facebook.com/vtzydeco.
