BRATTLEBORO — The Garland School in West Brattleboro hosts its second annual May Day Fair on Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.
Admission to the festival is free and features plenty of family fun. Come dance, join the parade, bid on a wide range of goods and services at the silent auction, buy organic plants and vegetable starts, and shop from local artisans. For purchase will be tickets for fun and creative children's activities, a delicious organic lunch, and unique handmade items. The event will take place rain or shine.
This year, The Sandglass Theater will perform “Punschi,” a playful interactive family show recommended for ages four and up. Tickets are available for purchase at the door and are $5 per person or $10 for families. The 45-minute puppet show begins at 1 p.m.
Begin the day by making your own flower garland, then browse the local wares and place your bids at the silent auction. Join the parade at 10:30 and participate in the maypole dance at 11:00. Vendors who will be at the event include ZPots (pottery), The Spun Monkey (handspun yarn and hand dyed fiber supplies), Pear Tree Studio (stuffed toys), Sigrid Scholz (jewelry and gnomes), Mountaintop Needlecrafts (hand knit hand puppets), Pretty Dreamer (Waldorf toys and items for the nature table, wooden and beeswax).
All proceeds will benefit The Garland School, a nonprofit nursery and preschool, and will go towards tuition assistance, teacher training, and school equipment.
The Garland School serves children 24 months to 6 years old. The school's nature-based program emphasizes free play within a rhythmic structure to provide a sense of purpose, predictability, and peace.
