Einstein name-dropping strains political credibility

BRATTLEBORO — Emily Peyton, the self-styled “public-servant gubernatorial candidate,” uses an Albert Einstein quote to support her “less is more” political outlook [Candidate Corner, July 18]. She prefaces the quote by saying that Einstein was a “former neighbor of mine.”

Considering that Einstein died in 1955, I guess Ms. Peyton is referring to a time 57 years ago when she and Mr. Einstein were living as neighbors in another state. As far as I know, Einstein never lived in Vermont.

Either that, or this come-lately queen of hemp politics has been skinny-dipping too long in the Whetstone Brook.

A candidate's integrity could be misinterpreted if the candidate tries to make an association with a “famous man” which is insubstantial in context, at best.

If Mother Bear Peyton is going to be “chasing away emperors who wear no clothes,” she should check to see that she herself is fully attired.
