Brattleboro voters: 10 things you need to know about voting at the Municipal Center

BRATTLEBORO — The Nov. 4 election will soon be here. Since the Aug. 26 primary, Brattleboro has had a new polling place: the Municipal Center.

To better inform voters, I'm listing 10 things you need to know about voting there:

1. Voting will take place on the second floor in the Cosman and Selectboard Meeting Rooms (Room 212).

2. You won't need to step up or down even one step to vote! There is an elevator just inside the back entrance at ground level.

3. Wheelchairs are available on the second floor when you exit the elevator.

4. Parking won't be a problem. Lots of free spaces have been set aside exclusively for voters. Parking is located in the rear of the building, accessible from the Grove Street entrance. Handicapped spaces are right next to the back entrance.

5. You won't need to remember your voting district. There will be lots of folks there to help you figure it out before you check in.

6. Your taxes won't go down, but this change will save the town approximately $1,500 per election.

7. You can vote earlier in the day. Polls now open at 7 a.m. They will remain open until 7 p.m.

8. If you live or work downtown, it is now easier to get to the polls. No gas needed!

9. You can vote, pay your taxes, and clear up those parking tickets all in one trip to the Town Offices.

10. Lots of smiling faces will readily help you.

And, if none of these things make voting easier for you, you can still vote early in the town clerk's office right up until 5 p.m. on Nov. 3, or you can call the office and a ballot can be mailed to you.
