BRATTLEBORO — Brattleboro's Last Night Committee presents a fun-filled, substance-free day of celebration on New Year's Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 31.
The day kicks off with a senior potluck luncheon at the Brattleboro Senior Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring The New Year's End Trio.
From noon to 4 p.m., KidsPLAYce holds a free Toddler and Pre-School Celebration! For more information, call 802-254-5212.
From 1 to 4 p.m., enjoy sleigh and hay rides at Fairwinds Farm on Upper Dummerston Road. No pets, please. The fee for adults is $8; the fee for kids up to 12 is $4.
The children's program this year once again features the Annies, from 4 to 5 p.m., at the Brattleboro Retreat's Educational Conference Center. Bring a non-perishable food item as admission to this great performance, which includes a New Year's countdown after the show.
Again this year, the committee is joining with Brattleboro Bowl for an evening of bowling. Your payment of $49 per lane includes two hours of bowling, shoes, pizza, soda, party favors, music and a light show. To reserve a lane, call 802-257-1177. Bowling times are 5 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.
Free skating is offered at Living Memorial Park from 6 to 9 p.m. There'll be door prizes and hot chocolate.
Also that evening, from 6 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., there will be a free teen dance party at the Boys & Girls Club. Check it out for games, food, a countdown frenzy, and more.
A concert with The Amidons and Nightingale at the First Baptist Church on Main Street from 7 to 9 p.m. rounds out the evening's entertainment. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children 6-14, and free for children 5 and under.
After the concert, families can head down to the West River to watch the 9:30 p.m. fireworks display over the Retreat Meadows.
