Stone Church Arts presents a capella quartet Big Woods Voices

BELLOWS FALLS — Stone Church Arts presents Big Woods Voices, the union of four veteran area singers celebrating their common passion for a cappella harmony, in a benefit concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17.

Big Woods Voices will perform this benefit concert in the smaller Stone Church Arts venue, the Chapel, of Immanuel Episcopal Church, 20 Church St. and seats are limited.

The voices are, from soprano to bass: Liz Rogers, an internationally-touring singer-songwriter who started out with the Metropolitan Opera's child chorus; Becky Graber, leader of the Brattleboro Women's Chorus, music director at The Putney School and the New England Youth Theater and a life-long teacher; Will Danforth, an award-winning, multi-instrumental solo acoustic artist; and Alan Blood, long-time member of area groups such as the Blanche Moyse Chorale, I Cantori, Blue Moon, House Blend, and others.

Big Woods Voices also represents a transition for Will Danforth from roots-oriented performer to composer/arranger.

The results are lyrical settings of poetry by David Whyte, Mary Oliver, W. B. Yeats, and others; harmonized standards of the American roots lexicon; and original compositions. Big Woods Voices also sings pieces by musicians such as Pete Sutherland, The Finest Kind, and Lambert, Hendricks, and Ross.
