Day of Caring helped many nonprofits

BRATTLEBORO — I thank all the volunteers who participated in United Way of Windham County's seventh annual Day of Caring on Sept. 10.

This year's event mobilized 135 volunteers for three volunteer service projects on Sept. 9 followed by nine on Saturday.

Teams of family members, friends, and colleagues volunteered together, including teams from Marlboro College, Marlboro College Graduate Center, the Richards Group, World Learning, and Youth Services.

They helped area nonprofits with painting, sorting, gardening, building, organizing, and gleaning projects throughout Windham County for Bonnyvale Environmental Education Center, Brattleboro Area Hospice, Brattleboro Little League, Brooks Memorial Library, Camp Waubanong, The Family Garden, Groundworks Drop-in Center, Our Place Drop-In Center, Vermont Foodbank, Windham Child Care Association's Bookmobile, and Winston Prouty Center for Child Development.

Volunteer engagement is one of the key ways United Way brings HOPE (health, opportunity, prosperity, and education) to Windham County. To find meaningful volunteer opportunities year-round, visit unitedwaywindham.org, or call 802-257-4011.
