Putney library displays work of environmental photographer

PUTNEY — In the winter of 2017, Putney photographer Kate Cleghorn went to the Galapagos Islands to document the wildlife “that struggles to survive in an environment now being impacted by climate change and the pressures of a growing human population, as well as the continuing threats of invasive species.”

It was a “natural” choice, she said, given that her main photographic interests lie in the diversity in our environment.

The results of that visit at the Putney Public Library at 55 Main St. are on display during the months of June and July.

Cleghorn received an master's of fine arts degree from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Ga. She has taught wet darkroom photography for the Community College of Vermont, for Johnson State College in the off-campus program, and at the Vermont Center for Photography in Brattleboro.

The exhibit can be viewed during the library's regular hours: Monday though Friday 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is free.
