Centre Congregational Church plans special Earth Day service

BRATTLEBORO — On Earth Day, Sunday, April 22, Centre Congregational Church on Main Street will celebrate “God's amazing gifts in nature” during and after its 10 a.m. service, according to a news release.

Rev. Joseph David Stinson will lead the service. The Children's Choir will join the Adult Choir, under the direction of Mary Milkey May, with a special song and then the children will participate in planting spring flowers.

Following the morning service, beverages and light, healthy snacks will be served in the parlor during fellowship hour. Church members' artwork reflecting on the beauty of the earth is on display.

From noon to 2 p.m., Fred Taylor, nature writer and teacher, will lead a series of writing activities to explore participants' connections with nature and “sense of God's presence in the amazing world in which we live.”

Taylor will introduce several writing techniques to help prime the pump of creativity to help participants write about some of their favorite places and outdoor experiences. He'll also share some of his favorite poems and passages of the great hymn-singers on “the wonders of God's creation.” The workshop is designed to appeal to all levels of writing experience.

All are welcome to attend this event. The church is handicapped accessible and provides hearing assistance devices. For more information, contact the church at 802-254-4730, or Tina Harris at admin@centrechurchvt.org.
