Vermont Pastel Society members exhibit work at The Gleanery

PUTNEY — Ten artists from the SouthEast Regional Hub of the Vermont Pastel Society are showing selected original pastels at The Gleanery restaurant in Putney. The show will be up from now through August.

The artists are Carol Corliss, Monica Hastings, Lesley Heathcote, Deedee Jones, Pat McPike, Matthew Peake, Gill Truslow, Rodrica Tilley, Maggie Smith, and Carol Stephens.

All are experienced artists who enjoy working in pastel, a medium that consists of pure pigment mixed with enough binder to form a stick. Pastels have been used by artists for centuries. When framed, they are highly archival and permanent, according to a news release.

These paintings are for sale. To purchase a painting, contact the artist directly. There is a price list available with contact information.

The Vermont Pastel Society is an all-volunteer organization of about 100 members founded in 1999. The purpose of the Society is to build and strengthen connections among pastel artists. The Society hosts two large exhibits per year and numerous workshops statewide and has several regional hubs that promote their own exhibits and events.
