BRATTLEBORO — The arts collective at ArtRageUs, featuring the creative work of local artists, craftspeople, musicians, and writers, will close Dec. 28.
For the holidays, and to celebrate its five years offering a showplace for locally made crafts, music, and writing, the gallery will offer 10 percent off all items in the store.
Gayle Marie Weitz, who with her partner Nick Biddle owns the building where ArtRageUs is located, has been manager of the gallery since it opened in 2015. An artist herself, Weitz said in a news release that she has enjoyed getting to know and work with the local creative community.
The gallery has been a showcase for over 100 local artists of all kinds, selling both quirky and elegant creations such as found-object constructed lamps, colorful quilts, and jewelry made from typewriter keys, along with ceramics, glass, wooden ware, paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture, clothing, books, and CDs.
Additionally, for four years ArtRageUs has been the bricks-and-mortar outlet for Write Action, featuring that organization's “literary cow” on book bags, mugs, and T-shirts.
Sales of these consigned items supports the writers' nonprofit. Books by many Write Action-affiliated authors are featured throughout the gallery.
Regular hours are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. However, ArtRageUs will be open everyday from Dec. 13 to 23 from noon to 5 p.m.
The arts collective at ArtRageUs is located at 57 Elliot Street.
After Dec. 28, the Elliot Street portion of ArtRageUs will become the personal studio and gallery of Gayle Weitz, selling her figurative furniture and housewares; and the Harmony Lot portion will become the upholstery studio and gallery of Emilie Beauchamp, both of which will open in January.
