Gibson brings his ‘Outsider Folk’ to Stage 33

BELLOWS FALLS — “I write songs, and I play guitar while singing those songs,” says Gibson Chase-Pinkney, who prefers to go by his first name only.

However, Gibson's music is more complicated than that. Think Jonathon Coulton plus Tom Lehrer times two minus satire; hyper-strummed, yet somehow deeply rooted in throwback coffeehouse folk. Often earnestly dark, but always with an impish grin - geeky, enthusiastic, energetic.

There's not an easy way to describe Gibson's music, but he's smart, a load of fun, and coming to Stage 33 Live on Sunday, Jan. 26, at 7 p.m.

There will be no opener and no cover, but tipping encouraged and $3 CDs will be available. The performance will be recorded and filmed.

This is the latest in a series of listening events this winter and spring at Stage 33 Live, on 33 Bridge Street in Bellows Falls. They have featured up-and-coming area musicians including Owen Nied, Gibson, Jenna Rice, Emily Lyons, Jay Simon, Jake McLaughlin, Bill Brink, and others. Find more at stage33live.com.
