BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Music Center's Chamber Series presents violinist Itamar Zorman and pianist Adam Golka on Friday, Feb. 21.
The 7:30 p.m. concert will take place at the BMC on Blanche Moyse Way.
Since his emergence as the top prize winner of the 2011 International Tchaikovsky Competition, violinist Itamar Zorman has performed as a soloist and chamber musician around the world.
The recipient of an Avery Fisher Career Grant and a Borletti-Buitoni Trust award, he is a regular participant at the Marlboro Music Festival as well as festivals in the U.S. and across Europe.
Increasingly in demand as soloist with orchestras around the world, Zorman just performed Alban Berg's Violin Concerto. One critic raved, “He is an exceptional violinist with broad depth to his sound ... and a scintillating musicality,” according to a news release.
Golka returns to the BMC Chamber Music Series following numerous performances with orchestras throughout Europe and across the U.S. Originally from Texas, Golka is currently working on a project to present all 32 of Beethoven's piano sonatas in multiple U.S. cities. Golka is artist-in-residence at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass.
The duo will present a program of standard and non-standard repertoire: Ben-Haim's Berceuse Sfaradite and Toccata, Op. 34, No. 3; Brahms' Violin Sonata No. 1 in G major, op. 78; Messiaen's Theme and variations; and Schubert's Fantasy in C major, D. 934.
