PUTNEY — Next Stage Arts Project presents its fifth socially-distanced, outdoor concert with The Blue Dahlia, plus multi-instrumentalist Stu Fuchs, on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 6 p.m., on the lawn of Greenberg Associates Architects, 168 Westminster West Rd.
On its website, The Blue Dahlia trio describes itself as “a tapestry of cultures woven together - lyrics in English and French, warm and joyous rhythms of reggae, ska and Latin America, klezmer violin, French and Mexican accordion and the sensual voice of jazz and French chanson.”
Created in 2012 by vocalist, ukulele-player and songwriter Dahlia Dumont, The Blue Dahlia performs as an acoustic trio in the intimate bistros of New York and Paris.
Stu Fuchs is a Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist and recording artist, spanning jazz, ethnic, and world styles. Fuchs “weaves virtuosity, humor, audience participation and soulful musicianship into his performances,” according to his website. Fuchs has performed his genre-bending ukulele style at concert halls and festivals around the world.
Each concert has limited seating and safety protocols in place to keep guests safe and socially distanced. Guests can bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating on the lawn, food and drinks for their pod, and face masks, which must be worn when coming or going to and from their pod.
Organizers “couldn't be prouder of the response from the community” to the concert series, Keith Marks, executive director of Next Stage Arts, said in a news release.
During the pandemic, “people have been seeking connection beyond a screen. These concerts support artists and bring people together for live music,” Marks said. “We've been refining the process to create safe, socially-distanced events allowing us to present virtuosic talent in outdoor experiences.”
