‘Poems Around Town’ celebrates poetry in the COVID-19 age

BRATTLEBORO — To celebrate poetry's being alive and well through this past year of the COVID-19 pandemic, three organizations - Write Action, Time to Write, and the Brattleboro Literary Festival - are inviting submissions of poetry written during the past year for a new project, “Poems Around Town.”

Poems selected will be printed on fine card stock and displayed in shop windows and other downtown venues during National Poetry Month in April.

Did a year of “lockdown” lead you to discover (or rediscover) writing poetry? Submit one or two poems written during this past year. Work submitted need not necessarily address the pandemic. Poems may have been previously published.

Writers of all skill levels are welcome to participate. Each poem must be no more than one page, and it must be saved in its own Microsoft Word file using a minimum of 14-point type using an easily readable font.

Borders should be set as 1.5 inches on top and bottom, and 1 inch on both sides. Make sure to put your name somewhere on your poem within this space.

Since selected poems will be on public display, the organizers reserve the right to reject any poem they deem inappropriate.

Send your poems by Thursday, March 25 to info@timetowrite.us with “Poems Around Town” as the subject line.
