SAXTONS RIVER — Margo Ghia of Saxtons River brings an enthusiasm for the arts and children to her new position as director of Main Street Arts.
Ghia is replacing Elizabeth Giguere Kimball, who has stepped down after her recent marriage, although she plans to continue as an active participant in MSA's theater program.
Although she considers herself a dabbler in the arts, Ghia said she derives much enjoyment from the arts and sees MSA's role as bringing the community the classes and opportunities that interest it.
“Main Street Arts is the heart of not just Saxtons River, but of the greater community area,” she said during a recent interview. “I love that it's a multi-generational organization, from arts and theater camps for the youngest to strength training for senior citizens.”
Ghia brings a wealth of leadership experience in the nonprofit sector to her new position. For 11 years, she was associated with The Nature Museum in Grafton, the last two as executive director. She has also been a classroom teacher in Westminster.
Her interest in agriculture and the environment includes serving on the board of the Bellows Falls Farmers' Market and helping her husband Mike run Ewetopia Farm.
She is the mother of Caleb and Elijah, who have both been active participants in MSA programs.
Now in its 22nd year, Main Street Arts is a nonprofit arts center dedicated to serving the creative needs of the greater community, encouraging creative exploration and expression through a wide range of experiences.
