Artist B. Lynch offers online talk

Exhibit 'Pull Back the Curtain' on display at BMAC

BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Museum & Art Center (BMAC) will present an online talk by artist B. Lynch on Thursday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m., via Zoom. Register at brattleboromuseum.org.

Lynch will discuss her BMAC exhibit “Pull Back the Curtain,” a multimedia installation that examines the effect of income disparity on society.

Viewers of the installation are introduced to a science fiction universe in which “the Reds,” well-dressed, wealthy 18th-century characters, amuse themselves, while “the Greys,” ambiguous figures who might be refugees or post-apocalyptic survivors, are hard at work.

Lynch uses puppetry, drawing, painting, linoleum block prints, and digital animation to create precisely rendered, meticulously detailed characters and environments.

She was the magazine's featured Centerfold Gallery artist in the July/August 2021 issue of Artscope, and her work has been shown in solo exhibitions at museums and universities across the country.

“Created by an artist deeply engaged in living in the modern world, 'Pull Back the Curtain' celebrates both the prosaic and the poetic, never privileging one over the other,” said BMAC Chief Curator Mara Williams in a news release.

“Pull Back the Curtain” is on view at BMAC through Feb. 13, 2022.
