• Emmy Bascom, 42, of Guilford. Died Aug. 8, 2022. Born on Oct. 16, 1979, Emmy grew up in Guilford, and went to high school in Brattleboro. She had moved away for a number of years but moved back to the area to raise her family. She was an avid hunter, and loved fishing, boating, four-wheeling, watching NASCAR racing, and being outdoors. She loved animals, fostering many over the years. She loved her children and was very involved in their school activities. She was considered a great handy-woman. If you needed something fixed, she was most likely to be able to fix it. She was comfortable growing her own food and raising her own animals for meat. Her sister used to tell her that she would make a great “prepper” and that she was a true survivor. She was always the first one to jump in and help others when needed, with an open door to her home. She had a very trusting soul and was a great friend to many people. She was always one to smile and laugh, and she had a kind heart and a generous soul. She will be missed dearly by her many friends and family. She is survived by her mother, father and his wife, several siblings, and an extensive extended family. She is also survived by her husband and four children, along with her nephew, whom she helped raise. She was predeceased by three brothers. Memorial information: A service was held Aug. 21 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Vernon. • Lee Ann (White) Boucher, 61, of Bellows Falls. Died suddenly at Springfield Hospital on Aug. 4, 2022. Lee was born Oct. 4, 1960 in Bellows Falls, the daughter of Helen (Emerson) Lawrence White Sr. She grew up in Saxtons River, and was active in the Girl Scouts, and the Junior Auxiliary of the Saxtons River Fire Department. She was a 1979 graduate of Bellows Falls Union High School. After her divorce, she raised her two sons, Casey Paige of Grafton and Eric Paige of Bellows Falls, who survive. She is also survived by one stepson, Richard O'Donell of Burlington; two brothers, Lester (Tonia) and Lawrence White, Jr. (Sherry); three grandchildren, Maddux Paige, Naudia Paige, and Noah Bourn; nieces and nephews Nathan, Anne, Lisa, Brad, and Katie; and goddaughter Brenna LaDuc. A wonderful mom, grammie, sister, and aunt, she was well known around the area as an artist, decorator, and flower arranger. She was known to many as the “Flower Lady.” She was a wonderful cook and baker, and enjoyed canning pickles. She cooked for many people in town, bringing food to friends and family, town workers, local garages, and the elderly and shut-in members of the community. To them she was the “Soup Lady.” She wanted everyone to have a smile on their face. Lee loved her cats MayBell, Nick, and Bailey, her “fur babies,” and was a member of the Polish American Club and the Moose Lodge in Bellows Falls. • Pamela Sue Bostwick, 69, of Brattleboro. Died July 22, 2022 of cancer. She was born Oct. 6, 1952 in Wareham, Mass., and raised in Falmouth, Mass., where she graduated from Lawrence High School in 1973. She moved to Brattleboro in 1985 and raised her three children here. Pamela leaves two daughters, Tatum Bostwick of Bellows Falls and Gabrielle Bostwick of Brattleboro; brothers Steve Bostwick of Falmouth and William Bostwick of Brattleboro, a sister, Susan Hadden of Spofford, N.H.; grandchildren Katrina Bostwick, Ashlin Williams, and Marcus Bostwick; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Ashley M. Bostwick; her parents, Dorothy and Fred Bostwick; and sisters Karen Ward and June Bostwick. “Pammy” loved her grandchildren and doted on them. She loved to cook and enjoyed having coffee with family and friends. She could be very sweet but had no problem expressing her opinions. She loved to read People magazine, and was a fan of “Jackie O.” and Princess Diana. • Thomas Joseph “Tom” Call, 47, of Spofford, N.H. Died unexpectedly on Aug. 16, 2022 at his home. Tom was born in Bellows Falls on Aug. 29, 1974 to Rita (Thomas) Call. He was raised and educated in Bellows Falls and graduated from Bellows Falls High School with the Class of 1992. He owned and operated his own excavation business, Tom Call Excavation, based in Bellows Falls. Previously, he worked for Greg Chico Trucking of Chester, where he was employed prior to establishing his own business. Tom will be remembered for his spirit of friendship and extreme gift of generosity. He was a proud supporter of Cedarcrest Center for Children with Disabilities. He was also a generous supporter of many other charitable causes in the Bellows Falls/Brattleboro/Keene area. He held membership in the Keene Chamber of Commerce and supported their causes. He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, boating, attending the Brattleboro Farmers' Market every Saturday, and time shared with his family, especially his children. Tom was also an avid New England Patriots fan. Survivors include his fiancée, Anjalee of Spofford, whom he was to wed on Sept. 24; his three children, Noah Welch-Smith and Christian Joseph Call, both of Spofford, and Stella Mae Call of both Greenfield, Mass., and Spofford; and two brothers, Christopher Call of Charlestown, N.H., and Mark Call of Walpole, N.H. Additionally, he leaves several aunts, uncles, cousins and a large host of friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Rita, who passed Feb. 23, 2021. • Elizabeth “Liz” Campbell Chromec, 75, formerly of Saxtons River. Died at her home in August of 2022. Born in 1947 in New York City, her family moved to Saxtons River in 1949. She attended Saxtons River Elementary School and Bellows Falls High School. She graduated in 1965 from The American School of Paris and attended Middlebury College. Liz then lived in New York City, Burlington, and Honolulu, before returning to Saxtons River to raise her daughter. After attending Norwich University's accelerated program for teaching she became a long-term substitute teacher in Cornish, N.H., and worked in special education at Bellows Falls Union High School. Liz was entranced by nature and loved living where she could experience it daily. She enjoyed hikes through the forest and taught her daughter how to track the many animals that lived in the snowy hills and fields of the family farm. In the 1990s, she volunteered at a wild bird sanctuary nursing injured birds back to health. She had a knack for soothing the injured birds and lived for the day when they were released back to the wild. She was a gifted artist and writer. In the 1970s, she created extraordinary embroidered clothing as gifts for her loved ones. She embraced spirituality and studied religions of the world, most formatively the teachings of the Dalai Lama, and traveled to India to study Buddhism. Many of her strongest friendships were forged in her youth, with those she was friends with from grade school through high school. She became like a second mother to several of her daughter's high school friends, extending great kindness and support to them in times of need. Liz struggled with mental illness for the last third of her life. This eventually affected her relationships and ability to connect with society. While she did withdraw from many loved ones in the last years of her life, she was never forgotten and was very much loved. Liz is survived by her daughter, Rachael Campbell Chromec of Yellow Springs, Ohio; her siblings, Robert Campbell Jr. of Saxtons River, Averill Larsen of Saxtons River, Michael Campbell of East Boston (Erin O'Hearn), Sean Campbell (Joan) of Saxtons River, Peter Campbell of Greenfield, Mass., Margaret Lacoste (Don) of Wolfeboro, N.H., Charles Campbell, (Julie) of Fairfield, Va., William Campbell (Gina) of Greenfield, Mass., Sarah Campbell of Saxtons River, and Matthew Campbell of Greenfield, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews. • Beverly Bly “Beaver” Coleman, 75, of Vernon. Died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Aug. 5, 2022. Beverly was born on April 12, 1947, to Margaret and Wallace E. Bly. Beverly and her late husband, Richard “Dickie” Coleman, were married for 53 years. Throughout their marriage, Dickie and Beaver lived in Westminster and Vernon, Vt. They raised two beautiful children, Derek and Stephanie. Beverly was a stay-at-home mom until her kids were in school, and then she went on to work various jobs at Allen Brothers, Hubbard Farms, and Priority Express. Her last and favorite job was driving the Vernon Senior Citizens van, where she became fast friends with lots of old timers whom she loved. In Beverly's earlier years, she was the life of the party, had a wicked sense of humor, always had a joke ready, and was very kind and loving. In 2000, she was in a terrible car crash that caused multiple fractures, leaving her in traction and hospitalized for four months. She never fully recovered from the crash, and it stole much of her spirit. In the last several years she struggled with severe emphysema. She is at peace now, free of pain, and is back in the arms of the love of her life, Dickie. Beverly is survived by her son Derek Coleman, also of Vernon, and her daughter, Stephanie Coleman Givens, of Brattleboro, along with her brother, Wallace “Skip” Bly of Vernon, and Elizabeth “Bonnie” Coleman of Hinsdale, N.H. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Keegan and Chloe Givens and Forrest, Kip, and Gracie Coleman. She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, her sister Janice Tracy, and her grandson Tyler Coleman. Memorial information: Beverly was adamant about having no services after her passing. • Sandra Burnham Famolare, 86, formerly of Putney. Died June 30, 2022, with both her daughters by her side, in her home in New York City. She was born on December 18, 1935, in Greenfield, Mass. She married Joseph P. “Joe” Famolare of Boston in 1957. Together they had two daughters, Bibiana and Hilary. In 1953, a young Sandra was a model and a promotional events coordinator for WBZ in Boston. She was also “Lotta Sparkle,” the face of Cliquot Club soda, and “Miss Maytag.” While attending Emerson College, Sandra met Joe Famolare and, after they married, they moved to Florence, Italy, where Joe established his shoe company Famolare Inc. Sandra became involved in art and volunteer positions in Italy while raising her two daughters. The family split their time between New York City and Florence, and they enjoyed traveling the world together. In the late 1970s, the family established a home base in Putney, where they lived for more than 45 years. Sandra enjoyed country living and maintaining gardens in between travel to New York City and abroad. While in New York City, Sandra worked with the city of New York's restoration and archeology departments. In Brattleboro, she spent her time as a volunteer ESL tutor to people studying for their U.S. citizenship tests. The death of Sandra's husband in 2013 prompted her eventual move back to New York City for health reasons. She spent the last five years of her life enjoying the hustle and bustle of the city, cheering on the marathon runners, and going to the ballet at Lincoln Center and Broadway shows before she lost her brave battle with Alzheimer's. Sandra leaves behind her two daughters, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was a loving mother and wife, a caring and devoted friend, and beautiful person. She will be missed. • David Francis Reardon, 82, of Brattleboro. Died peacefully, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family, on Aug. 11, 2022 following an extended period of declining health. Dave was born in Brattleboro on Sept. 16, 1939, the son of Vincent and Catherine (Moynihan) Reardon. He was raised and educated in town and graduated from Brattleboro Union High School with the Class of 1958. On Dec. 21, 1959 in Brattleboro, during a simple wedding ceremony for family and close friends, he was married to Janet Marie Kozlowski, his devoted wife who survives. A licensed plumber and pipefitter, he had been employed for many years working for Pipefitter Union Local 104 based in Springfield, Mass. He retired in 2002 following over 30 years of faithful service. He had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed many memorable times with friends and family at home and at the VFW and American Legion. Through the years, Dave built two family homes from the ground up with the help of Russel Howe, Russ Greenwood & Dougie Hunt. Dave liked puttering around his home, maintaining his pool and lawn. He loved nature and animals, especially his Bulldogs - Molly, BigBoy and Mickey - and the family cat, Peaches. Besides his faithful and devoted wife of almost 63 years, he leaves three sons, Timothy of Hartford, Vt., Vincent of Fletcher, Vt., and Michael of Brattleboro; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Edward, Robert, and William Reardon; and his nephew, Jerry Reardon, who helped around the house for many years. • Andrew Reginald “Andy” Sorrell, 46, of Brattleboro. Died unexpectedly from an illness at his home on Aug. 9, 2022. Andy was born on Aug. 24, 1975 in Pittsfield, Mass., the son of Reginald and Sandra (Williams) Sorrell. He first attended elementary school in Hinsdale, Mass., and later moved to Colorado with his family and went to elementary school in Conifer, Colo. and graduated from Lewis-Palmer High School in Monument, Colo., Class of 1995. During his youth, Andy was actively involved in the Boy Scouts and was a passionate cross-country runner. While a resident in Colorado, Andy enjoyed working as a groundskeeper at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. During his employment at the Academy, he had the opportunity to meet several high government dignitaries and officials. For several years, Andy was employed as a route driver for the Brattleboro Reformer and Town Crier. Previously, he worked at The Book Press in Brattleboro. Friendly and loving, he was known for performing deeds of kindness, especially for his elderly neighbors on Town Crier Drive. He was also devoted to his family, with whom he enjoyed spending most of his time. Of his leisure time activities, he enjoyed computer games, and following current news and politics. Andy dabbled in photography and engrossed himself in studying history. He enjoyed traveling from an early age, with fond memories of traveling across the United States with his family and visiting national parks. Survivors include his parents of Newfane; sisters Renee Jomaa and her husband Tony Jomaa of North Bennington, Robin Bergamo and her husband Vincent Bergamo of Bethel, Vanessa Sorrell of Bethel, Rebecca Sorrell of Manchester, N.H., and Emily Sorrell and Rachel Sorrell, both of Newfane; nephews Byrom and Callum Jomaa, and Leon Bergamo; and nieces, Olyvia and Leena Jomaa. • Sandra Grace “Sandy” Stencel, 82, of Spofford, N.H. Died Aug. 10, 2022, surrounded by her family at her home. Sandy was born to Oliver and Elna Kibben in Sterling, Colo. on Sept. 5, 1939. She grew up on a ranch near New Raymer, Colo., graduated valedictorian of her high school class, and attended Colorado State University. In 1958, Sandy married Everett Stencel. They lived in Ft. Collins, Colo., while Everett finished veterinary school. After Everett graduated in 1963, the couple moved to Curtis, Neb., to establish a veterinary practice and eventually farm the Kibben family farm. Following Everett's death in 1989, Sandy purchased the Curtis Flower Shop and continued her involvement in numerous organizations and activities. As a talented artist, Sandy was known for her animal art on almost any paintable surface. She was active in 4-H, Scouts, the Congregational Church, Curtis Easter Pageant, Medicine Creek Economic Development Board and Chamber of Commerce, Medicine Valley Foundation and School Board, Chapter CG PEO, TeamMates, Star Theater Board, and many other activities over the years. Sandy took great pride in being an active member of the community and was awarded the Citizen of the Year for Curtis in 2012. After living in Curtis for over 50 years, Sandy moved to Spofford to be with her companion, Dr. Clyde Johnson. Together, Sandy and Clyde shared a love of cooking, reading, traveling, enjoying nature, and visiting family and friends all over the country and spending winters in Florida. Sandy is survived by her sons Mark (Margy) of Valentine, Neb.; David (Kathleen) of Lincoln, Neb.; Brian (Tammy) of Beaverton, Ore.; and daughter Linda (Kirk) Hartman of Lincoln, Neb.; companion Dr. Clyde Johnson; and sister Janet Kohl of Berthoud, Colo., along with numerous grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband and her sister Carol Unruh of Kenai, Alaska. Memorial information: A celebration of Sandy's life will be held in Spofford on Saturday, Sept. 10; in Curtis, Neb., in mid-October; and South Venice, Fla., at a date to be determined. Interment will be at the Curtis Cemetery in the fall. Donations to either the music ministry at Swanzey (N.H.) Congregational Church, the Venice (Fla.) Presbyterian Church, the Curtis Community Foundation, or any charity of your choice where you can make a difference in the lives of others.
