Host families needed for exchange students

BRATTLEBORO - PAX (Program for Academic Exchange) is seeking host families for international high school exchange students for the 2024–25 school year.

"Host families come in all shapes and sizes," said local coordinator Laura Howe in a news release. "Your family composition can have varied aged children (teenaged not a necessity) or no children. You can be a single parent or empty nester(s). PAX exchange students have been vigorously vetted in their home countries. They have each passed an English proficiency exam, demonstrated maturity, motivation, and academic capability."

Howe said PAX can match hosts with a student "who has similar interests as your family, such as sports, music, theater, cooking, or spending time outdoors. You will be introducing your family and our community to another culture while expanding everyone's worldview."

Hosting an exchange student, Howe said, "is a way to promote global understanding and friendship; cultivate lifelong cross cultural relationships; and ultimately help to improve international diplomacy." Those interested may contact Howe at laura.brattleboro111@gmail.com, or visit pax.org to learn more.
