BRATTLEBORO-The Windham County Humane Society (WCHS) has begun its annual November Food Drive to support pets in need throughout the holiday season. During this time, WCHS says it will collect pet food donations "to assist local families and their furry companions, ensuring they receive the support they need during challenging times."
The food drive collects cat and dog food, including special dietary options for pets with specific health needs. Donations will be distributed to community members facing financial difficulties, helping to ensure their pets receive proper nutrition and care.
"We are proud to offer this program every year to help support the pets and families in our community," WCHS Executive Director Maya Richmond said in a news release. "No pet should go hungry, and thanks to the generosity of our community, we can provide essential assistance during the holiday season and beyond."
WCHS encourages the public to contribute dry and canned pet food, as well as treats, to help ease the burden on pet owners who may be struggling. Donations can be dropped off at the WCHS shelter, located at 916 West River Rd. (Route 30), during its business hours, Sunday–Tuesday, noon to 4 p.m.
For those who prefer to donate online, WCHS offers convenient options through One Stop Pet Supply, Chewy, or Amazon, where wish lists are available. Items can be purchased and sent directly to the shelter. Additionally, monetary donations are welcome and can be made using the Venmo QR code available on the WCHS website and social media platforms.
If you'd prefer to mail a cash donation, include a note indicating it is for the November 2024 Food Drive and send it to WCHS, P.O. Box 397, Brattleboro, VT 05301. All contributions, whether in food or funds, will help local pets and their families this holiday season.
