Theatre Adventure marks 20 years with new film

BRATTLEBORO-Theatre Adventure invites the public to help celebrate its 20th anniversary with the screening of A Ballad of Belonging, a documentary honoring Theatre Adventure's past, present, and future, on Friday, Nov. 8, at 6:30 p.m. at the Latchis Theatre, 50 Main St.

Some of Theatre Adventure's actors will don the costumes of their favorite characters from previous shows. They will engage with the audience before the screening and participate in a brief talkback session afterward.

A Ballad of Belonging is described by organizers as "an intimate backstage view of Theatre Adventure. For 20 years in southern Vermont, youth and adults with disabilities have been enjoying, creating, and presenting bold and original theater. Viewers will witness troupe members during powerful moments of building self-confidence, courageously expressing self, and discovering one's artistry, all in a culture of caring about one another."

ASL Interpretation will be embedded in the documentary and provided at the live event. The Latchis Theatre is a wheelchair-accessible venue. There will be dedicated accessible seating available for audience members who use wheelchairs. Handicapped parking will be available designated by the hooded parking meters on Flat Street alongside the Latchis.

Those with special accommodation needs can request them in the form under the ticket information at theatreadventure.org/tickets/ballad-of-belonging.

Admission is free, but registration is required at theatreadventure.org/tickets. Those unable to attend in person may choose a ticket to view the event online. After Nov. 8, they will receive an email with a link to view the documentary at their convenience. For further information, or if you would like to volunteer at the event, contact info@theatreadventure.org.
