Rasa String Quartet embarks on a ‘Journey of Transformation’

BRATTLEBORO-Rasa String Quartet presents "Journey and Transformation" at the Brattleboro Music Center on Friday, Dec. 13.

The 7 p.m. concert will feature a program that organizers say "evokes longing and nostalgia for distant places and cherished memories." From William Grant Still's tender mermaid fairytale to composers' reflections on faraway homelands and the lively melodies of a Haydn quartet, this concert "will invite audiences to reconnect with the beloved stories that shaped their past," say organizers.

Performing will be Emma Powell and Maura Shawn, violin; Kiyoshi Hayashi, viola; and Mina Kim, cello. The program includes "Prince and the Mermaid" by William Grant Still; "Korean Lullaby," arranged byMina Kim; String Quartet No. 3, "Cape Breton Set" by Graham Cohen; "Pushpulling" by Donnacha Dennehy; "Cuimhne" by Christine Hedden; and String Quartet No. 64 in D major, Op. 76, No. 5 by Joseph Haydn.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door and are available online at bmcvt.org, by calling the BMC at 802-257-4523, or emailing info@bmcvt.org.
