Rock River Players present ‘Mwah! A Valentine’s Cabaret’

WILLIAMSVILLE-The Rock River Players (RRP) present Mwah! - a Valentine's Cabaret, on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 14 and 15, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 16, at 3 p.m., at Williamsville Hall, 35 Dover Rd.

Producer Annie Landenberger said in a news release that "the cabaret, with deep roots in France and Germany in the early 20th century, has historically been a trendsetting form of entertainment featuring a variety of performance styles for an audience that's typically enjoyed from small café tables - which we'll have. Moreover, cabarets are typically adult-focused with a heavy dose of subversion."

Landenberger adds: "Cabaret has been the hot bed of creative energy for a decades. In its earliest form, it gave us out-of-the-box perspective and material. With a collection of scenes, songs, satire, and surprises, and in keeping with the essence of the cabaret, the RRP evening promises laughs, love, and epiphanies."

Tin addition to organizer Landberger, this year's Players' cabaret features Walter Cramer, Tessa Anderson, Gary Keiser, Amy Donahue, John Ogorzalek, Vicky Santiesbestian, Peter Udemi, Shafiya Finger, Rose Watson, Stewart McDermet, Randy Lichtenwalner, T. Breeze Verdant, Rick Contino and Laura Elisabeth in a range of comedy from seasoned to original and music from Frank Loesser to Fiona Apple. Dan DeWalt is accompanist. Peter Broussard is on lights.

Admission is $12. Sweet delicacies will be available by donation. Cabaret-goers are invited to bring whatever beverages they wish. For reservations, visit rockriverplayers.org and for more information, email verbatimvt@gmail.com.
