WEST DUMMERSTON-Lydia's Friends, the friends-of-the-library organization that supports the Lydia Taft Pratt Library, will host a presentation and discussion with the producers of the six-episode podcast The Afghan Women of Brattleboro.
The event is scheduled for Thursday, June 19, from 6 to 7:15 p.m. at the Library located in the Dummerston Community Center at 150 West St. in West Dummerston Village.
The Afghan Women of Brattleboro is about a group of people who fled their homeland and built new lives in southern Vermont. This grant-funded series recently aired on Vermont Public and is available online at vermontpublic.org and afghanwomenofbrattleboro.org.
According to Dummerston resident Catherine O'Callaghan, a member of Lydia's Friends, "When I listened to this excellent podcast on [Vermont Public Radio], I was immediately excited to invite Jen Sutton, Elissa Pine, and Negina Azimi to speak at Dummerston's library. As educational as it is thought-provoking, this podcast reminds us to be curious about our neighbors. Curiosity is an ingredient for the cultivation of a healthy community."
