Vermont comedians return to Next Stage

PUTNEY-Next Stage Arts presents the return of "Vermont Comedy All Stars Live Stand-up Comedy Showcase" Friday, Oct. 3, at 7:30 p.m. at Next Stage Arts, 15 Kimball Hill.

Hosted and produced by Gordon Clark and the nonprofit Vermont Comedy All Stars, the evening features a lineup of comedians from across New England, "each bringing a unique style and a sharp sense of humor to the stage," wrote organizers in a news release.

Featured performers include:

• Tim Lovett: Appearing on the Western Massachusetts comedy scene in 2014, Lovett made a name for himself with his personality and ability to connect with any audience. He's opened for comedy heavyweights including Joe List, Jessica Kirson, Mike Epps, and Donnell Rawlings, and founded Comedy as a Weapon, a production company "dedicated to uplifting local talent."

• Toni Nagy: A content creator and stand-up comedian claiming more than 850,000 followers, Nagy blends philosophy, politics, and spiritual absurdity in her work - often through interpretive dance. She is fresh off a sold-out off-Broadway run of her two-woman tragicomedy Grape Culture, and tours nationally with her solo shows Pump Your Pelvis Against the Patriarchy and Men, Come Inside of Me.

• Deb Reiser: Known as the "Flatlander from Flatbush," Reiser left behind a law career to chase comedy full time. A two-time winner of the Long Island Laugh-Off, she now splits her time between Brooklyn and Stowe, performing throughout New England and beyond - with even a few jokes slipped to Jay Leno.

• Brian Thompson: A Burlington-area comic and 2025 Vermont Comedy Award winner for Best Newcomer. A finalist in the 2024 Vermont's Funniest Comedian Contest, Thompson mixes sharp, self-deprecating humor with a quirky take on everyday life.

Producer and host Clark has been a force in Vermont's stand-up scene, producing more than 100 shows statewide since founding Vermont Comedy All Stars in 2020. Known for bringing together established talent and fresh voices, Clark's showcases have become must-see events for comedy fans.

"Every show is a chance to experience the breadth of talent thriving in Vermont and New England right now," Clark said in a news release.

Doors open at 6:45 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door and are available at nextstagearts.org.
