Uman Trio performs in Marlboro

MARLBORO-Composer and pianist Eugene Uman will perform in a trio with double bassist Steve Cady and drummer Jon Fisher Thursday, Oct. 16, 7 p.m. at Thrush Hill Stage studio, 314 Upper Houghton Road.

The Eugene Uman Trio balances a blend of music that is "innovative and exploratory" as well as "accessible and groove oriented," wrote organizers in a news release.

Leader Uman uses this group to present his own original compositions, many of which were inspired by his years living in Columbia, South America.

Also featured are the compositions of bassist Steve Cady, the director of the Keene (N.H.) Jazz Orchestra. This concert debuts an 1883 Steinway grand piano recently restored by Brattleboro piano technician John Dwyer.

Tickets are $20 and are available at thrushhillstage.com or at the door.
