SAXTONS RIVER-The third annual Generosity Fair gets underway at 24 Main Street Community Building, Saturday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. More than 20 area nonprofit organizations will showcase their activities and "provide an opportunity to turn generosity into meaningful holiday gift-giving" with the option of attending information sessions about planned giving and volunteering, wrote organizers in a news release.
The event is free and open to all.
"This is a great chance for folks to learn about these wonderful nonprofits and make donations in honor of their friends, loved ones, neighbors and co-workers," Anne Manner-McLarty, one of the organizers of the event, said. "It's a way to have a positive impact in the community while solving that age-old question of what to choose as holiday gifts."
She explained that for each donation, attendees will receive a holiday card acknowledging the gift. Some organizations will have other items for sale and special incentives for levels of giving.
Also offered are a session at 2:15 p.m. on advanced gifting strategies with financial planner Bill Stevens of Edward Jones and a session at 3:15 p.m. on volunteering opportunities with Erica Walch of Green Mountain RSVP.
Light snacks will be available, and "the Generosity Fairies, a contingent of fun and magical folk," will acknowledge each gift with an ornament placed on the Generosity Fairy's flag as a visible indicator of the community's generosity.
Attendees are asked to bring a checkbook and/or cash, as not all organizations accept credit cards in-person or offer online giving.
